CONESTOGA WAGON
with or without Clock

The Conestoga Wagon is
a piece of American history that goes back to
before the romance of the Old West when early settlers used them to travel
across the country.
The Conestoga's were made by the townsfolk of Conestoga,
Pennsylvania during the 1800's. The town got it's name from the
nearby Conestoga Indian Tribe.
The wagons became the
favorite of the Teamsters, who built many of the roads
between towns in the East and then used the wagons to
haul goods from one town to another. An
interesting side note is that the Teamsters fancied a
new cigar in those days and they often smoked them while
hauling goods over the trails. The name 'Stoggies'
was given originally to the Teamsters who smoked them
and the name carried over to the cigar. The name
caught on and we still refer to cigars today as 'stoggies'.
This replica of the
Conestoga Wagon is approximately 16" long, 9" tall and
6" wide. It features operating wheels, brake
lever and brakes, and a tongue and reach. Attached
to sides of the wagon is a water barrel, shovel, ladder,
rocking chair, buck saw and an anvil. Also
included is a leather purse, rifle and whip.
Inside the rear of the wagon are two sacks for grain and
flour along with a plow. There is a tool box in
front under the driver's foot rest in front of the
wooden seat.
The Conestoga can be
purchased with or without a Quartz clock movement.
Use the correct Add to Cart button below to make your
selection. The wagon with the clock movements has a 1 7/16" battery
operated Quartz movement which is mounted with a magnet on the side
of cloth top of the wagon. The movement is easily
removed to adjust the time and replace the #377 button
battery. Battery is not included and can be
purchased at Wal-Mart or similar retail stores.
